another birthday cake

Ok.. here is a battle my mother and I have been having since I was in high school. Well it started before then. Since I was about 9 or 10 I told my mother I didnt need/want a birthday cake. And it wasnt until I was in High School before the “battle of the creative minds” started.

Now I made up a rule she could not give me a birthday cake for my birthday. great! Or at least I thought. then she decided to give me a birthday key lime pie (that was my favorite desert at the time). damn it! another item on the “no birthday <insert desert> list”. And this has been going on for many year. Pies, cakes, puddings, jell-o, cookies, tarts, etc have been added, year by year. This year my mother went way in left field to get around the list. “Diet miniature easter cakes“. Hmmm she got around the list with that one.

Now you are probably thinking that I am just being a little shit about this. For the most part I am not a big sweet/desert person. Havent been for many many years. But my mother and I see this as a game. She is being on holidays and special occasions. And this game gives her something to scheme on during the year.

here is the list (I will be updating this over and over again for a little while as I remember everything on it) in no particular order:

  • birthday cake
  • chocolate-cherry cake-thingie (it is this german chocolate cake with chocolate icing and cherries in between layers type cake)
  • keylime pie (aka green pie)
  • pink pie (aka pink lemon aid pie)
  • pumpkin pie
  • apple pie
  • cherry pie
  • giant (birthday) cookie
  • ice cream cake
  • diet miniature easter cakes (this year’s entry)
  • jell-o (any/all flavors)
  • jell-o based deserts (jell-o & fruit combos, etc)
  • flan
  • tart
  • cookies
  • vanilla wafers (this is what I give to the dog for treats, and I generally have a few myself)
  • candy (bars)
  • chocolate
  • vanilla pudding
  • chocolate pudding
  • butterscotch pudding
  • any other flavor of pudding
  • vanilla pudding (with the vanilla wafers in it)
  • fried ice cream (like what is served at Mexican restraunts)

and the list keeps on growing..
