Kids, Report Cards, and a new Business
Kids these days do the boldest moves on the planet. They know they are not going to get into real trouble so what the hell?
I got an email from one of my best friends this morning about what happened to him at work. He works at a High School here in the good old US. I have redacted a few things to keep his identy secret.
Just spent the past three hours with about half a dozen students and their parents.
We busted a counterfeit report card ring. For $10 they would make a replacement report card.
They scanned the old report card, Photoshopped out the old grades, and inserted new ones. They even recalculated the GPAs and final grades. They used the wrong type of paper (we use velum with a watermark) and they printed on inkjets instead of dot matrix printers. The also used the wrong font for the “new, improved” grades.
One of the students who bought an “improved” report card has a sister who is also in the school. The father noticed that the sister’s report card was on thin (and watermarked velum) while the son’s was on thicker, regular paper. He brought the whole thing to our attention.
That’s what I went to school for…busting juvenile delinquents. My name is [redacted], I wear a badge…
These kids are ballsy. And these are not unique either. Why on earth would a kid not just go for it? they have nothing to loose and nothing that will affect their futures. Damn lawyers.
